Bid awarded on new bathhouse at state park
Thanks to Senator Owen Laughlin, Oklahoma Economic Development Authority
and the Oklahoma Department of Recreation and Tourism a family bathhouse will
soon be constructed at the new Beaver Dunes State Park’s new campsite.
Senator Laughlin was able to assist in finding funds for the construction of this new
facility. Oklahoma Economic Development Authority has awarded the bids for the new
construction that should start within the next 30 days. Eldon Meister Construction from
Chester, OK was awarded the bid at the monthly meeting of the OEDA board. Bennett
Construction of Beaver will be installing the septic system.
Upon completion of the facility there will be two family unit bathrooms complete with
showers. "This should increase the use of the Dunes area park as they will now have full
camping facilities available at this area," said Beaver Dunes park manager Bryan Elwood.
It is hoped that this new bathhouse may be available for the upcoming Beaver Dunes Fall
Classic planned for Sept. 20. If they are not finished by that time at least the visitors will
see that improvements are being provided for their comfort.
A big thank you goes to the Beaver Beyond 2000 organization for their visits to the state
capital to seek funding for the new highway turnoff and the new camping area. This
organization has gained much respect from our legislative representatives as they meet
with them to review the needs of our area.
